Activities 2010

Burke and Wills Expedition 150th Anniversary (2010 - 2011)

The Council of the Royal Society in 2008 established an Anniversary Advisory Committee to advise it on the manner in which the 150th anniversary of the Burke and Wills Expedition of 1860-61 should be commemorated. The Committee is currently formulating a series of national community based events and activities projects designed to capture the imagination of the public of Australia.

Some of the proposed events include the re-enactment of the departure of Burke and Wills, the development of web based Burke and Wills "virtual track" and regional, community based commemorations along the length of the track. Commemorative coins and stamps are expected to be issued.

Details of the program can be found at http://www.burkeandwills150.info/
